Project Atlas

Atlas Demo

My first venture into hardware. The goal is to create a wearable camera that takes a photo at predefined intervals together with geolocation data from an integrated GPS. The main motivation is to be able to log GPS tracks on a map, as well as create a hands free artifact of the walk in the form of a timelapse video of all the pictures stitched together.

Parts:

The Pi runs a headless Raspberry Pi OS, which is essentially a Linux terminal. This has the advantage that it runs standard Python code.

While working on this project I designed and 3D printed a custom prototype jig to house all the components in a single compartment during development.

This project is really pushing my skills in these subjects, since it is my first time venturing into hardware and everything that it entails.

There is also a software component planned that will ingest the photos and GPS tracks, store and catalog them, and provide ways to visualize them.
